If you are running in the TP100 tomorrow, give a shout to Mark Fox. He is currently running the course as we speak, and he will be running it again during the event itself; a Double TP100! You can follow Mark's progress on RaceDrone racedrone.net/event/double-thames-path-100...
The Comrades Marathon in South Africa, one of the most famous ultra races in the world, first staged in 1921. Bruce Fordyce is the most famous runner in the event's history, having won in a record NINE times, eight of them consecutive. Bruce is also the world record holder for 50 miles, a record he set in England in 1983 wearing plimsolls and a vest/shorts, and eating biscuits and drinking barley water. The record still stands 33 years later, nobody has even come close.
The reason to tell you this is that he'll be at ULTRAfestival on June 3rd-5th this year. He's flying over from South Africa especially for the event. Listen to him talk about running, pick up tips, run with him. Have a beer and a chinwag with him.
This is an opportunity that won't come round very often; Tickets are still available, here: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ultrafestival-2016-tickets-21056266861.
There are seven events on which you can be GPS-tracked, or follow someone you know, this Bank Holiday weekend; The Thames Path 100, The Highland Fling, Isle of Wight Challenge, Hardmoors 110, The Pony Express, Three Forts Challenge, Brecon to Cardiff Ultra. A full list of events (more than 150 now) can be found here racedrone.net/events/events...
You can request GPS tracking on any personal challenge; run, cycle, walk; anything in fact. We have already added virtually all the UK ultras onto www.racedrone.net already, so you can tracked anywhere. Here's a few upcoming events that we are tracking competitors on. There is still time to get your tracking sorted out for the bank holiday weekend too. For long or remote events such as these, three we recommend hiring a mini GPS tracker; they feature a week-long battery, and work well in remote areas of the UK. You can hire one at www.eventstracking.com...

The Way for the Millennium is a national trail that was setup 16 years ago to celebrate the millennium, and is now 41 miles long. You can either park and register at Burton-on-Trent (Derbyshire border) and then board the coach for a trip to Newport (on the Shropshire border), or you can opt to provide your own transport and meet us at the start line in Newport
Then you’ll run as fast as your little legs will carry you along the pretty much flat course all the way back to your car. You have a leisurely 12 hours in which to do it too. Yes you did read that right, the course is essentially flat, for 41 miles. There is a miserable 300ft of climbing on the whole course. Beyond Marathon are normally well known for tough hilly events, so we’ve gone soft on this one. Well, we like to throw you a bone now and again. Just this once mind you. The next event we setup; we’ll ensure there’s 5 miles of vertical to make amends for this. In 2015 extended out the already super-generous time limit by a full extra hour – giving you a 12 hour time limit (3.4mph average speed) this is a great choice if you are either:
Looking to clock a fast time on a flat course
New to ultramarathons
We’ll feed and water you along the way, at each of three manned checkpoints too. Rather than include extras in the entry fee you may not want, you can choose the following as extras:
Coach to Newport, or not
RaceDrone GPS Tracking
