Harden Hardun (TBC for 2015)

×Marathon Overview

The Harden Hardun is a 27 mile event in Yorkshire, starting from The Golden Fleece in Harden. It is a challenging circular course, around 50% of which is open moorland. There is around 1250m (4100ft) of ascent that comes courtesy of valleys crossings.  The route takes in:

  • Doe Park
  • Windfarm on Ovenden Moor
  • Luddenden Dean
  • Brown Knoll
  • Crimsworth Dean
  • Walshaw Dean
  • Oxenhope Stoop
  • Manywells Heights
  • Goit Stock

The speed of the course is heavily dependant on the weather conditions in the previous days and weeks. If there has been a lot of rain then the course can be very boggy; lots of leaping muddy expanses involved! In dry conditions, the dry ground accross the moors is actually “springy” and is a pleasure to run on.
There are 6 checkpoints at miles: 4, 7, 12, 15, 19 , 23. These serve a variety of water, juice, oranges, cakes and biscuits.  The event entry includes a certificate, embroided badge, and a pub-meal at the finish, and friendly staff at all the checkpoints!; excellent value for money.
